In happier times, a father enjoys his two children Caroline, John Jr. and their pony Macaroni outside the Oval Office in June 1962. A month later, President Kennedy (1961-63) was assassinated in Dallas and the children's carefree days in the White House were gone, along with their father.

Caroline Kennedy's pet ducks waddle across the White House lawn. The children also owned a pony called Macaroni.
